Wait-And-See Attitude Affects New York Doll Products

by Karen Ryan on 05/25/2010

There’s a lot of chat on the doll boards about New York Doll Products, and the doll community seems to be concerned about the speed and reliability of this new company as far as being able to fill their orders in a timely fashion. People are hesitating to place orders, preferring to wait and see how others find the service before committing themselves. Word has it, however, that NYDP is doing an excellent job not only in handling new orders, but in scoping out orders that were placed during the demise of Seeley’s and were never filled, and taking care of them.

Let’s not forget that the new owner, Kuniko Koseki, an experienced and reputable business woman who has been operating her own company, Mikuni Bisque Dolls, in Tokyo, Japan for years. Furthermore, she served as the President of the Eastern Division for Seeley’s, and is surely acquainted with these same products which she is now producing for us. She is also a Doll Artisan Guild Instructor and Senior Judge, and plays a big part in organizing the Tokyo Doll Festival every two years, so she is fully aware of the need for quality products and the importance of receiving them in a timely manner.

We’re all familiar with the old adage, “Once bitten, twice shy”, but New York Doll Products is a whole new company, run by a knowledgeable and experienced woman who not only wants to serve us here in the States, but is obviously striving to do so in a manner in which we not only cannot find fault, but rather has thoroughly satisfied her new customers. Let’s not make the job of cleaning up after the collapse of Seeley’s any harder than it needs to be. Let’s give her the benefit of the doubt and applaud the establishment of a new and dependable company that will certainly be here to supply our needs as porcelain doll making continues to draw new followers. Failure to do so not only hurts us, but can cripple this much needed company right at the very beginning.
