Dollmakers and French Fashion Doll Lovers! Here’s the function you won’t want to miss! The Midwest Doll Business Associates (MDBA) have teamed up with the Doll Costumers Guild – Chapter 3, better known as “The Trousseauers”, to bring you a three day, fun filled Festival with workshops mostly dedicated to making fabulous accessories for your French Fashion dolls and giving you the “ultimate doll show experience”! Sounds great, huh? And if anyone can do it, these two groups can. I hadn’t known this, but the Trousseauers are the Brookfield, Wisconsin area chapter of the Doll Costumers Guild and their focus and expertise is in the area of historically correct costuming, its techniques and execution, so they really know all about what accessories are appropriate for your dolls and how to make them.
So when and where is this extravaganza going to take place? Early Registration starts at 2pm on Thursday, August 12th at the Brookfield Suites Hotel & Convention Center located at 1200 S. Moorland Road, Brookfield, Wisconsin, and runs ends with the award presentation at 6pm on Saturday, August 14th. One of the first things I always check out is the list of workshops. This time they include a Fanny doll lounging on a pillow, which can be used as a pin cushion or to display your hat pin collection, and for your 12” French Fashion ladies, there will be workshops on making French Fashion Hats, French Fashion hatboxes, Carpet Bags, Leather Boots, and an “At-Home” Dress. You can also learn to make an elegant 1920’s style Powder Puff, and an adorable Scissors and Needle Case. You need to follow this link http://www.mdbadollfestival.com/workshop_description.html to get a look at these projects and get the details like how to sign up, the cost of the workshop and what you need to bring.
In addition to the Workshops, Louise Hedrick will do a French Fashion Presentation to demonstrate what the wardrobes were like from 1864 to 1874 which was a period of styling unique to the French Fashion world. You can see examples of Louise’s wonderful creations at http://www.flickr.com/photos/bradleyjustice/1107468167/in/set-72157601439712467 Take a look …you’ll really be impressed and I’m sure you’ll want to see her lovely garments in person at the Festival!
This really sounds like it’ll be a marvelous, fun filled time. Plan on meeting lots of old friends and making new ones as you get involved with the activities! Lots of hard work has gone into getting all of this ready for you, so come, relax, and enjoy!
