I’m sure you remember reading about the marvelous doll show called Les Belles Poupees that took place in Grapevine, Texas last summer, and maybe you were even part of the great group that was able to attend and take part in all the delightful classes, seminars and other fun functions that were scheduled around the show itself.

We’ve all been looking forward to a repeat of this event this coming summer, but due to unforeseen circumstances, the show has been cancelled for 2010. Karen Welch, the show coordinator, was already involved in planning for this summer’s event when her mother suffered two seriously debilitating strokes. As we all know, strokes like these affect the whole family, and Karen and her family have been called upon to spend a good deal of time at her mother’s bedside during the following months, and even though her mother is improving, she continues to be needed there at this time.

A doll show of the magnitude of Les Belles Poupees requires a full year of planning and implementation to be ready when the scheduled dates arrive, and Karen just has not been able to continue this effort this year. However, she is making plans for a bigger and better show in 2011! She reports that she intends to pursue her dream of bringing a wide diversity in types of doll makers and crafts people together for one gigantic show that will celebrate “The Doll” in a whole new way! This will not only make putting on the show more cost effective as more vendors take part, but will make it more attractive to a larger number of show goers.

So, DO NOT DISPAIR! The show will go on! Only at a slightly later date than originally planned. We’ll share that new date with you, as well as finalized plans as the information becomes available, and you can also visit Karen’s show website at http://www.lesbellespoupees.com to read more about her plans as they develop. We know you’ll continue to offer your prayers and support for her in the days ahead.
