I love hearing from you!

The only problem with a blog is that I’m never sure if I’m wasting your time and mine, or if some of the information posted is really useful. If I was talking to each of you face to face, I’d be able to tell if we were on the same page, but as things are, I’m often not sure what you’re thinking. But I’m so pleased to say that I’ve had email from several of you in the past few days that has been most encouraging.

One lady who found my blog for the very first time said she felt like Alice in Wonderland when she came across it, and could hardly decide where to start. And another lady was kind enough to let me know that one of the links in the Supplier’s Directory was no longer valid, and even worse than that, she got a virus from going there. Needless to say, I immediately removed that link! I did check each of these websites out before putting them in the Directories, but things change.

I am in the process of contacting each of the listings in the Doll Class Directory to be sure they are still active, and want to take the time to thank each of you whom I’ve contacted so far for your responses. Some of our newer readers may not know that listings in our National Doll Class Directory are absolutely free, and that they really do help get you new students. I just heard from three separate instructors who said they have gotten new students lately because of their listing in the Directory! This is what we hoped to have happen when we started this project, and it’s very gratifying to see it working. So if some of you are teaching the art of making porcelain dolls and aren’t in the Directory, please email me with your contact information so we can get you added.

I love getting your email and finding out what types of dolls you make. It’s exciting to see that there are still a lot of us who are busy making dolls and sharing information to help each other, and as the dust settles from the collapse of some of the doll related businesses that have struggled to keep going through this lag in the doll business, I think we’ll find that new businesses are being formed to take their place. It will take time, but things are slowly improving. There are exciting days ahead. Just keep sharing your love for dolls with new comers, and keep in contact with each other as we all work together to help the doll business get back on its feet.

As for me, I’ll keep on sharing the news in the doll community and do look forward to your input. If there is anything that you would like to have addressed, do let me know and I’ll see what I can do. Remember, if you would like to have a list of doll classes in your state to put on the literature table at doll shows or other events, I will be happy to email you a copy.  We try to put them out at the doll shows near us, and they have proven useful. Anyway, keep the emails coming!
