Wow! I no sooner got done looking over the information about the IDMA Convention and writing down my thoughts about it then I received an email about the 2010 Doll Artisan Guild International Convention that will take place in Chattanooga, Tennessee on October 13-16. There’s plenty of good stuff to look forward to this year!
First of all, let me remind you that you can still get the $30 discount for making early reservations, but only for the next couple of days! After January 15th, you’ll have to pony up the full price of $299.50, and if you aren’t a member but wish to attend, you must also include the membership fee! But this function definitely sounds like it’ll be well worth it!
Wednesday, the 13th will start off with breakfast from 7-8:30 am, after which you will have time to get registered and hand in your competition entries and still have time to attend a workshop before lunch. You have been working on a special doll or two for this event, haven’t you? After lunch there are more workshops scheduled until 5pm, followed by a break, then a dinner cruise on the Southern Belle Riverboat from 7-11 pm. Be sure to take advantage of this opportunity.
Thursday is crammed full of activities, including the official opening of the Convention, lectures by honored guest speakers, a Silent Auction, and Souvenir Presentation.
Friday will find you busy with hands-on projects for your souvenir doll, the opening of the sales room and DAG Competition Exhibit to the participants, followed by more lectures and demonstrations, and after dinner the DAGSD Graduation and Awards Ceremony.
You’ll wind things up on Saturday with more great workshops, a chance for everyone to spend time on the sales floor and viewing the competition entries. In the middle of the afternoon you’ll be allowed to pick up your competition entries and have time to attend a Cocktail Reception, followed by a Gala Dinner and Moonlight and Magnolias Costume Party. Sound good so far?
After making the effort to attend and keep up with all these activities, be sure to leave time enough to take in some of the scenic attractions, of which there are many in the immediate area! Visit this website for further details about what’s available and for the registration forms – http://www.dollartisanguild.org/Karlyn/DAG2010InvitationandSignUp.pdf. I hope you’ll all get to attend, and have the time of your lives!
