I came across this free crochet pattern for doll stockings while surfing the web looking for interesting sites to add to the Doll directories recently, an thought it might be a nice time to share it with all of you. Maybe you’ll want to take it along when you visit relatives this Christmas so you have something to work on while sitting around catching up on things.
Materials & Equipment:
DMC Cebelia #30 crochet thread
steel crochet hook Size 7 (1.50 mm)
Abbreviations:
ch = chain
sc = single crochet
dc = double crochet
tr = treble crochet
sl st = slip stitch
rnd(s) = round(s)
sk = skip
sp = space
st = stitch
Crochet Instructions:
Starting at the toe, ch 4, join with sl st to first ch made to form ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 3, 11 dc in ring, join with sl st to top of ch 3 (there are 12 dc on rnd 1, counting the ch 3 as 1 dc).
Rnd 2: Ch 3, dc in same sp, 2 dc in each dc, join with sl st to top of ch 3 (24 dc).
Rnds 3-4: Ch 3, dc in each dc, join with sl st to top of ch 3 (24).
Rnd 5: Ch 3, dc in next 2 dc, * 2 dc in next dc, 1 dc in each of next 3 dc, repeat from * to end, join with sl st to top of ch 3 (30).
Rnd 6: Ch 3, dc in each dc, join with sl st to top of ch 3 (30).
Rnd 7: Ch 3, dc in each of next 3 dc, * 2 dc in next dc, 1 dc in each of next 4 dc, repeat from * to end, join with sl st to top of ch 3 (36).
Rnd 8: Ch 3, dc in each of next 4 dc, * 2 dc in next dc, 1 dc in each of next 5 dc, repeat from * to end, join with sl st to top of ch 3 (42).
Rnd 9: Ch 3, dc in each dc, join with sl st to top of ch 3 (42).
Rnd 10: Sc in each of next 8 dc, dc in each of next 8 dc, 2 dc in each of next 2 dc, tr in each of next 6 dc, 2 dc in each of next 2 dc, dc in each of next 8 dc, sc in each of next 8 dc (46).
Rnd 11: Sc in each of next 8 sc, dc in each of next 12 dc, tr in each of next 6 tr, dc in each of next 12 dc, sc in each of next 8 sc (46).
Rnd 12: Sc in each of next 8 sc, dc in each of next 9 dc, tr in each of next 3 dc, tr in each of next 2 tr, 2 tr in each of next 2 tr, tr in each of next 2 tr, tr in each of next 3 dc, dc in each of next 9 dc, sc in each of next 8 sc (48).
Rnd 13: Sc in each of next 8 sc, dc in each of next 9 dc, tr in each of next 5 tr, tr next 2 tr together twice, tr in each of next 5 tr, dc in each of next 9 dc, sc in each of next 8 sc (46).
Rnd 14: sc in each of next 8 sc, dc in each of next 6 dc, dc next 2 dc together, dc 1 dc and 1 tr together, tr in each of next 10 tr, dc 1 dc and 1 tr together, dc next 2 dc together, dc in each of next 6 dc, sc in each of next 8 sc (42).
Rnds 15-17: Ch 3, dc in each st to end, join with sl st to top of ch 3 (42).
Rnd 18: Ch 4, * sk 1 dc, sc in next dc to form loop, ch 3, repeat from * to end, join with s1 st to bottom of first ch 4 loop, sl st in loop.
Rnd 19: Ch 4, * sc in next loop, ch 3, repeat from * to end, join with sl st to bottom of ch 4 loop, sl st in loop. Repeat Rnd 19 for 19 more rnds, or until within 1″ of desired finished length.
To finish: Rnd 1: Ch 4, 2 tr in same loop, * 3 tr in next loop, repeat from * to end, join with sl st to top of ch 4. Rnd 2: Ch 4, *sc in st between 3 tr groups to form loop, ch 3, repeat from * to end, join with sl st to bottom of first ch 4 loop, sl st in loop. Repeat finishing rnds 1 and 2 twice. For garters, ¼” silk ribbon can be woven through the loops of the third row from the top of the stocking and tied in a bow. Stockings made with white cotton thread can be beautifully dyed to complement a doll’s costume.

I’m working on this one to see how it turns out. I see it has a fancy top with a place to thread a ribbon through. I’m always looking for new patterns for doll stockings too. I always enjoy crocheting and I like making my own stockings for my babies!
